In short

  • A meal: 10 to 40 MAD in the street, 40 to 90 MAD on Jemaa el-Fna, 80 to 150 MAD in a neighborhood restaurant, 250 to 500 MAD at a fine address.
  • A taxi in town: 20 to 40 MAD. Airport: 100 to 150 MAD.

Marrakech remains affordable for those who stay, eat and move like a local, and can become as expensive as Paris for those who chain palaces and starred tables. Here are the prices seen in 2026, in dirhams, with the euro equivalent (10.8 MAD for 1 €). Then three sample budgets to place yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is Marrakech an expensive destination?+

Not if you eat local, take petit taxis and sightsee on foot: 400 to 600 MAD per day per person excluding accommodation. Yes if you chain palaces, spas and gourmet restaurants, where prices match Europe.

How much cash should I bring?+

About 300 to 500 MAD per day per person for small expenses. Cards work in restaurants, Guéliz shops and monuments. Withdraw dirhams on site; do not change euros before departure.

Is renting a villa more expensive than a hotel?+

Per person, rarely. A 5-bedroom villa at 10,000 MAD a night works out at 1,000 MAD per person for ten, cleaning and breakfast included, less than a room in a 4-star hotel, with the private pool and staff on top.

Are prices higher in high season?+

For accommodation, yes: about 30% more at Easter and 60% at Christmas-New Year, 20% less in summer. Restaurants, entry fees and transport do not change.
