  • Summer: 35 to 42 °C by day, pool villas at the year's best prices.
  • Winter: 18 to 20 °C in the sun, 5 to 8 °C at night. Heated pool and fireplace essential.
  • Ramadan 2027: from about 8 February to 9 or 10 March 2027. Eid al-Adha around 17 May 2027.
  • Rain: about 250 mm a year, 3,130 hours of sunshine, hardly ever more than three rainy days in a row.

Marrakech sits at 450 metres, 150 kilometres from the Atlantic and at the foot of the High Atlas. The climate is semi-arid: very hot dry summers, mild bright winters, cool nights all year, and a 15-degree swing between morning and afternoon in winter. Here is the month-by-month detail, then how the seasons affect your stay.

Month by month

  • January: 6 to 19 °C, the coldest month. 7 hours of sun a day, about twenty millimetres of rain. Snow on the Atlas peaks. The Marrakech Marathon takes place on the second Sunday of the month.
  • February: 8 to 20 °C. Almond trees in bloom in the valleys. Ramadan 2027 starts around 8 February.
  • March: 10 to 23 °C. Spring begins, the gardens are in bloom. Eid al-Fitr around 10 March 2027.
  • April: 12 to 25 °C. The perfect month. Also the wettest with 35 mm, in short showers. Easter pushes prices up.
  • May: 15 to 29 °C, 9 mm of rain. Pools become pleasant. Eid al-Adha around 17 May 2027.
  • June: 18 to 33 °C. The heat begins. Gnaoua Festival in Essaouira 25 to 27 June 2026.
  • July: 21 to 37 °C, peaks at 42 °C. Early-morning visits, pool, outings after 7 pm. National Festival of Popular Arts in early July.
  • August: 21 to 37 °C, the hottest month on average (29 °C). Villa prices at their lowest.
  • September: 19 to 32 °C. The heat eases after the 15th. Golf courses reopen fully.
  • October: 15 to 28 °C. Golden light, mild evenings. An excellent month.
  • November: 11 to 22 °C. Still 20 °C in the sun, cool from 5 pm. Marrakech International Film Festival at the end of the month.
  • December: 7 to 19 °C. Winter sun, Christmas and New Year in high demand, 5-night minimum in most villas.

Spring, March to May: high season

Ideal temperatures to explore the Medina on foot and take Atlas excursions. The most requested period: book three months ahead, especially for Easter and the May bank holidays. Our property rates rise by around 30% over the Easter holidays.

Summer, June to August: heat and good prices

Too hot to sightsee between noon and 5 pm. But a pool villa, visits at 8 am, a siesta and rooftop dinners after 8 pm make a very pleasant stay. Villas show their lowest rates, up to 20% below the base price. Choose a property air-conditioned throughout, not only in the bedrooms, and a pool shaded for part of the day. See our private pool villas.

Autumn, September to November: the second ideal season

From mid-September the heat becomes bearable, the light is beautiful and there are fewer people than in spring. October is our favourite month. In November, bring a sweater for the evening.

Winter, December to February: sun without the crowds

18 to 20 °C under the midday sun, perfect to escape the European winter, but 5 to 8 °C at night and houses built for heat. Three rules: heated pool (check, it is not the norm), heating in every room, and a fireplace for pleasure. Christmas and New Year are the most expensive week of the year (rates up 60% on our listings), book from September. See our New Year collection.

Ramadan: should you avoid it?

No. During Ramadan (from 8 February to 9 or 10 March in 2027, dates confirmed by moon sighting), the city slows down by day and comes alive after the breaking of the fast. Tourist restaurants, riads and villas operate normally. Monuments close earlier (Ben Youssef Madrasa at 4:30 pm). Avoid eating and drinking in the street during the day out of respect. Ramadan evenings are an experience in themselves. Two days after the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr closes most shops.

What to pack

  • All year: sunscreen, hat, comfortable shoes for the Medina, an outfit covering shoulders and knees for monuments.
  • November to March: sweater and jacket for the evening, a real coat for Atlas excursions.
  • June to September: light cotton or linen clothes, swimwear, sunglasses.

And our property prices

Our rates follow three seasons: Easter (about +30%), summer (about -20%) and Christmas-New Year (about +60%), with a higher minimum stay over the holidays. The base price applies the rest of the year. The detail appears on each listing and in your quote.
